Grade one and two students create a colour wheel fromnature.

Yesterday, we were working on creating a colour wheel with just pencil or wax crayons. Today we challenged ourselves to find representative nature objects to build a colour wheel. Our goal is to be really ready to explore with water colours to create our colour wheels with primary and secondary colours. Some of us might even try to create the tertiary colours.

Here we are using a tree stump to arrange a collection of leaves and cones. If we start arranging our collection, we will know which colours we still need to find.

We did our best to find items from nature for each colour on the wheel. Green was one of the easiest to find. There is a very good patch of skunk cabbage in the forest. Let your nose lead the way.

Some people can not get enough of the luring skunk cabbage. It does smell better out here than it does locked in our classroom overnight.
